Shari Redstone, the media chief who controls Paramount empire CBS News, criticized the network’s leadership on Wednesday for its decision to censure a star morning show host for handling a live interview with author Ta-Nehisi Coates.
“They made a mistake here,” Ms. Redstone said, when it appeared in midtown Manhattan, “and I think we all agree that it wasn’t handled well.”
CBS News executives reprimanded anchor Tony Tokopil in a newsroom-wide call on Monday, saying his behavior fell below editorial standards.
