Dolly Parton's wish came true.
During a 2022 interview with “The Daily Show,” Parton was asked about the hundreds of cover versions of her 1973 country classic “Joline,” and about the one artist who had yet to record a song that Parton hoped would do so, Beyoncé.
“I don't know if she got the message, but wouldn't it be killer? I think she's awesome and beautiful, and I love her music. Barton said. Like Whitney, I'd love to hear 'Jolene' done in a big way [Houston] My 'I Will Always Love You.' Someone who can take my little songs and turn them into powerhouses. If she ever does 'Jolin' it will be a wonderful day in my life.
Done and Done.
Beyoncé's “Renaissance” sequel “Act II: Cowboy Carter.” The song was introduced by Barton himself.
“Hey Miss Honey Bee, this is Dolly Bee. You know that hussy with the good hair you sing about? Reminded me of someone I used to know, except she had auburn hair and referenced the lyrics to Beyoncé's “Sorry.” “Bless her heart
A hair of a different color but it hurts the same.
Beyoncé's version of “Joline” follows. While it stays true to the original melody, Bae puts his own spin on the lyrics. For example, instead of “I'm begging you, please don't take my man,” Beyoncé sings, “I'm warning you, don't come for my man.”
Barton fully agrees.
“Wow, I heard Jolene,” Barton wrote in a statement on social media on Friday. “Beyoncé gives that girl some trouble and she deserves it! Love, Dolly B.

Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene
I warn you, don't come for my man
Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene
Don't take a chance just because you think you can
You are incomparably beautiful
Beauty and glamor take more than looks
To come between a family and a happy man
Jolene, I'm a girl too
The games you play are nothing new
So you don't want any heat with me, Jolene
We have been in love for 20 years
I raised the man, I raised his children
I know my man better than he knows himself (what)
I can easily understand why you are attracted to my man
But you don't want this smoke, so shoot your shot with someone else (I asked)
Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene
I warn you, girl, find you your own man
Jolene I know I'm a queen, Jolene
I'm still a creole bungee bitch from Lucian (don't try me)
A thousand women in every room
That's as desperate as you are
You're a bird, sing your song, Jolene (What)
I had to talk to you about this
Because I hate acting like a fool
Your peace depends on how you move, Jolene
My man and I crossed those valleys
Highs and lows and everything in between
You are rolled up like weeds
I sleep well because you can't dig up the seeds we planted
I know my man will stand by me, breathing my gentle breeze
I crossed those valleys
Highs and lows and everything in between
Good deeds roll like weeds
Good and happy because you can't dig up the seeds you sow
Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene
I amI stand by her and she stands by me, Jolene
I stand by him and he stands by me
I stand by her and she stands by me
I stand by him and he stands by me, Jolene
