The National Hurricane Center is watching Tropical Depression 10 as they expect it to strengthen into a named tropical storm on Sunday. As of Saturday night, TD 10 was about 55 miles northeast of Cozumel, Mexico. The system had maximum sustained winds of 35 mph. The NHC is tracking a small amount of movement to the southwest by TD 10, but expects it to start tracking north. Yucatan Canal through early Monday. “A brisk movement toward the north or north-northeast is expected Monday, bringing the system over the eastern Gulf of Mexico,” the NHC said. The most recent computer models show TD 10 tracking over the Panhandle, but rain and wind could affect much of the state. “This low pressure area is moving toward the southwest at 2 mph (4 km/h) and will meander near the Yucatan Channel early Monday morning. A faster movement toward the north or north-northeast is expected Monday. The eastern Gulf of Mexico,” the NHC said.
