Police in Pennsylvania said they mistakenly identified a man seen in recently released doorbell footage as prison escapee Michael Parham, who was taken into custody Saturday, according to authorities.

Law enforcement on Friday released the video, which they say was taken “within the last couple of days” of what they initially believed to be showing. Barham was an inmate who had been on the run for a week before being caught Saturday afternoon.

Officers’ video showed a man walking past a house south of the northern Pennsylvania town of Warren toward a wooded area.

“We’ve received several tips that are still being investigated, but thanks to the response of the public in the area, we can say with certainty that Barham is not the person depicted in the video,” Pennsylvania State Police Lt. Col. George Bivens told reporters Saturday, hours before authorities announced they had found the inmate.

Barham walked out of the Warren County Jail in northwestern Pennsylvania shortly before midnight on July 6 using tied bedsheets and propped himself up on exercise equipment, a county spokeswoman said.

Officials have described him as a “dangerous” inmate with military experience and survival knowledge after escaping from the 140-capacity facility, which houses inmates awaiting trial or serving sentences of two years or less.
